The four weeks I’d been working at Theo’s had flown by. It turned out that having Penn for a boss wasn’t nearly as difficult as I’d anticipated. Each time our paths had crossed, he’d behaved impeccably, treating me the same as any other employee. Besides, he’d hardly been here, too busy juggling his other full-time job—namely, CEO of Kingcaid Restaurants.

Outside of work, things were going well, too, although I still couldn’t quite believe I was in a real relationship. Sure, we’d begun by agreeing it was only a fuck-a-thon, but what Penn and I shared had become so much more. I couldn’t deny how fiercely I missed him when he wasn’t there, my mind drifting to the moments we’d shared. Or how my chest twisted when, through work commitments, a few days passed by without us seeing each other.

Even so, the thought of Penn and me dating made me screw my face up in disgust. Me. Gianna Greene, granting my pussy to only one man and having zero regrets.

Not that I would ever tell Penn that. The man wouldn’t ever let me forget it.

He’d spent the last few days traveling with Asher. Kingcaid had opened a new hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, and as it had an adjoining restaurant, Asher had expected Penn to attend also. He was due back Sunday afternoon, and I planned to spend the morning buffing and shaving and pouring myself into a brand-new set of lingerie I’d splurged on to celebrate his homecoming.

God, I missed him. The next forty-one hours were going to be a hell of a slog. Still, one more shift, two more sleeps, and he’d be home.

Jesus fucking Christ, Gia, what the hell has happened to you?

I’d gone soft in my old age, pining for a man I’d despised two and a half months ago. I blamed Kee and her loved-up status. If I hadn’t gone to her wedding, I wouldn’t be sitting here dick-whipped. This state of affairs was completely unacceptable.

My phone rang. Perfect timing. I answered, glowering at Kee’s exquisite, shining, all-loved-up face. “You are in so much trouble, Kiana Doherty-slash-Kingcaid.”

Her head jerked back. “What have I done?”

“You’ve hexed me with all your lovin’.”

Kee beamed, her grin wide enough to split her face in two. “Will there be another wedding soon?”

I snorted. “Not likely. In fact…” I looked up at the ceiling, pretending to think hard. “Never.”

“Me doth think the lady protest too much.”

I chuckled. “Shakespeare never was your forte.”

“Or yours, as I recall.”

“You heard from Asher?”

“You heard from Penn?” she countered.

“I asked first.”

“He called this morning to say he’s going to try to leave earlier. No promises.”

Hmm. Penn hadn’t called to tell me the same thing. The heat surging through my chest was a surefire sign I wasn’t too happy about that. I tamped it down with a swig of water.

“Here’s hoping.”

“Seriously, though, how are things going with Penn?”

“You mean Asher hasn’t conveyed all the gory details?”

“As I have intimate knowledge of your past sex life, the details are sure to be gory.
